Gilbane projects closed out; district credited about $130,000 and Keno settlement to be presented for approval

Gilbane Construction reported the Water Mitigation Project and STEM Wing Addition have reached formal close‑out, with final paperwork and a pay application submitted to finalize the work. Gilbane said the Water Mitigation final change order "reflects a credit of approximately $130,000 to the District due to unused contingency, site services, and associated insurance and bond costs," and noted the STEM Wing concluded with a deductive change order of $1,448.78 and finished approximately $1 million under budget. The firm credited collaboration with District staff and listed completed items including storm sewer improvements along the bus lane, utility work for stadium restrooms, replacement of galvanized piping and classroom renovations.

Committee members were also briefed on the resolution of earlier disputes tied to turf installation. The transcript notes Keno sought reimbursement "of approximately $334,338" for incorrect rock installed early in the project; the parties eventually settled the matter for a total of $119,000, with Gilbane contributing approximately $94,000 and Glen Erickson's company contributing $25,000. Administration stated the District is not responsible for any portion of that settlement. The settlement agreement is included in the board packet and will be presented as an action item at the next regular board meeting so the District can finalize outstanding change orders and close out related project accounting.
