The Dakota CUSD 201 Board of Education unanimously approved acceptance of a School Maintenance Grant during its Jan. 20 meeting.
Karl McPeek moved to approve acceptance of the grant and Mike Alexander seconded; the motion passed 7–0. The district’s superintendent and maintenance staff are coordinating with vendors to apply the grant to identified facility needs.
At the meeting, representatives or materials from Veregy outlined prioritized multi-phase projects to be completed this summer: replace failed surge protection devices and install new BFEs; replace the elementary-school main water shut-off valve; roof repairs; replace exterior doors in poor condition; and consider upgrading the aging high‑school boiler to a condensing boiler. Those project priorities were presented in conjunction with the maintenance-grant discussion and will guide implementation if grant funding is applied as proposed.
The transcript does not include specific dollar amounts for the grant or a project-by-project budget. Board members approved the grant acceptance as a funding mechanism to address the identified capital and systems needs; staff were directed to continue planning and vendor coordination.
