District projects facilities upgrades, renegotiates waste contract to save about $15,000 a year

Jeff Tumpane, director of operations, told the board the district reached an updated three-year contract with Republic expected to reduce garbage and recycling costs by nearly half and save the district about $15,000 per year. He said snow removal costs have risen compared with the past three years and that the district will continue partner work with Haven Landscape.
Tumpane outlined planned spring- and summer-break projects: a preschool "pad," flooring work for school offices and Room 201 at SEG, LED lighting upgrades and HVAC piping work. The district will pilot a new work-order system in late February intended to simplify requests; an internal option could save roughly $6,000. Tumpane also said the district is exploring a new gymnasium bleacher mechanical-inspection and preventative-maintenance partnership that may save about $2,000 annually.
