District highlights Brook Park victory, narrows math program review to two options

District curriculum leaders celebrated Brook Park’s state win and said staff observed I-Ready instruction as they narrowed the math program review to EdGems and I-Ready; Brook Park will compete in the National Cup Challenge in May.
Cathy Cannon, reporting for Curriculum and Instruction, said Brook Park won a state competition in December after students answered more than 17,000 questions; the school received prizes, money for snacks and a celebration from Prodigy and will compete in the National Cup Challenge in May.
Cannon said district leaders — including Dave Johnson and Anna Hartley — visited Highland Middle School to observe I-Ready instruction for grades 6–8. The district has narrowed its math program review to two finalists, EdGems and I-Ready, and staff said classroom visits helped them learn from local teachers and administrators before a final recommendation.
District staff highlighted grade-level instructional efforts across K–8, including new writing work in kindergarten and grade-level projects such as a 2nd-grade "Adjective Runway" and 3rd-grade Math Mix-up informed by MAP data. SEG electives and clubs, including pep band and proposed after-school clubs, were presented as additional student supports.
