Representatives from the Village of LaGrange Park presented a proposal to issue $10 million in bonds to fund street resurfacing, reconstruction, curb and sidewalk work, ADA improvements and drainage projects.
The presenters said the village’s engineering analysis indicates roughly $1.3 million per year is required to maintain the road network in fair condition and that current revenue sources are insufficient. The village board unanimously approved placing the proposition on the March 17, 2026 ballot and said the 2026 bond would replace two expiring bond issuances, including the 2016 Road & Fire Equipment Bonds scheduled to be paid off in 2026.
"The Village Board unanimously approved the placement of proposition to issue $10 Million in bonds to continue funding for road infrastructure, continuing the 2016 Road Bond Fund," the village presentation stated. If voters approve the referendum this spring, the village said bond issuance could occur in summer 2026 and road projects would be implemented in phases from 2026–2029. Officials warned that if the referendum fails, resurfacing and reconstruction would be scaled back and delayed, increasing long-term repair costs.
