Darien SD 61 retains hazardous walking-condition routes, notifies DuPage County ROE
Summary
The board voted unanimously July 22, 2025 to retain previously approved hazardous walking-condition designations requiring student transportation for 2025–2026 and adopted a resolution to that effect.
The board moved to inform the DuPage County Regional Office of Education that hazardous walking conditions previously approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation remain unchanged for the 2025–2026 school year. The motion, moved by Karen Buckels and seconded by Dana Pavlu, passed on a roll call vote with all seven members voting aye.
Following that motion the board adopted a resolution to retain the approved status of hazardous walking-condition routes. The resolution was read by the board president and adopted unanimously; the action keeps current transportation designations in place pending any future review.
