District updates capital projects: Early Childhood Center design complete, elevator modernizations, HVAC work ongoing

CCS International reported the Brian Dominick Early Childhood Center design development is complete and on budget; elevator modernizations and HVAC retro-commissioning are underway, and Lincoln fire remediation continues with 10 of 11 classrooms functional.
Gabriel Alvarez of CCS International presented a construction and capital-planning report to the board on Oct. 8. He said the design portion of the Brian Dominick Early Childhood Center is complete with the construction cost estimate aligning with the approved budget; abatement is complete and demolition is ongoing, and the project is expected to go out to bid in mid-November.
Alvarez reported elevator modernizations at Liberty and Columbus West passed final inspection and the Service Center modernization continued, coordinated with fire-panel upgrades. Multiple HVAC retro-commissioning efforts (Sherlock, Unity) and Lincoln fire damage remediation were described as in progress. Dr. Calderin added that 10 of 11 classrooms affected by the Lincoln fire were functional; only the fire-origin classroom remained out of service.
The board took no questions after the presentation and indicated acceptance of the report.
