The Carlinville CUSD 1 Board of Education voted to approve a Travelers cyber insurance renewal for $23,508, which the district’s administrator said includes an additional legal defense endorsement. Trustee Brandon Little moved the motion and Maya Reid seconded; the roll call vote recorded five yays and two absences.
Dr. Schuchman told trustees that "Travelers will provide coverage and include additional legal defense. Last year cyber insurance premium was $19,876 with an increase to $23,508 this year." Board members framed the approval as part of routine risk management as few insurers offer cyber coverage. The motion passed 5–0 with Sam Harding and Seth Roberts absent.
