Komarek SD 94 schedules K–5 winter benchmarking and outlines eLearning plan for emergency days

Willie Merrill told the board that Dr. Diane Janka and Principal Diane Michelini prepared a winter assessment calendar: kindergarten through fifth-grade students will complete EasyCBM reading and math assessments beginning Tuesday, Jan. 21. Merrill said the winter benchmarking will let teachers and administrators see changes in student performance since fall and use the data in meetings to target supports for individual students.
Superintendent Dr. Todd Fitzgerald also described the district's eLearning plan, which was shared with families via Komarek Communication and ParentSquare in November and December. The plan enables the district to provide remote instruction on emergency days (for example, snow days) so those days can be counted as school days instead of requiring make-up days at the end of the year; feeder districts coordinate decisions about eLearning with Riverside Brookfield High School.
