Komarek SD 94 to use maintenance grant for doors, gym sound, auditorium floor and tuckpointing

At the Jan. 13 board meeting, Mrs. Suzy Stevens reported that Komarek School’s application for a school maintenance grant was approved and described a portfolio of planned facilities improvements for 2026. The projects she listed included new doors for multiple boiler-room and storage areas, an updated sound system in the secondary gym to be completed during spring break, replacement of the auditorium floor with luxury vinyl tile and tuckpointing of the renovated building over the summer. Mrs. Stevens also said the buildings and grounds team completed deep cleaning of classrooms, offices and common areas during winter break and installed safety indicator lights in both gyms and the auditorium.
Mrs. Stevens noted additional work will include bleacher maintenance in the secondary gym on or near Martin Luther King Jr. Day or President's Day, roof-drain repairs, and replacement of the roof fence above the district office; she said Andy Lopez and Superintendent Dr. Todd Fitzgerald are coordinating project scheduling and implementation.
