Komarek staff receive West40 training; Erin's Law presentations scheduled

Staff received West40 professional development on small-group instruction aligned to the district strategic plan. The board also heard that Erin's Law age-appropriate safety curriculum by Victor Pacini will be delivered in February to appropriate grades.
Board member Willie Merrill reported that on Feb. 6 Komarek staff participated in professional development led by the West40 Regional Office of Education focused on small-group instruction aligned to the district’s strategic planning goal of meeting individual students' academic needs. Merrill thanked West40 for partnering with the district to support targeted instruction.
Merrill also described upcoming Erin's Law student presentations delivered using curriculum developed by Victor Pacini, a survivor, author and speaker. Merrill said the program is developmentally appropriate and interactive and that its focus is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations.
