Wastewater supervisor warns clarifier may need full replacement at roughly $500,000

The town’s wastewater supervisor (S8) told the council that the plant—constructed in 1995 and online in 1997—is showing age-related problems. After a clarifier failed and required a temporary $5,500 repair, the supervisor warned "it's looking like it's ready for a total replacement in the near future, which you're talking about a $500,000 to replace clarifier, the inside of clarifier." The supervisor said many components (rotors, valves) are original and that staff will send a report outlining options.
S8 noted roughly $1,000,000 in jointly funded reserves shared with Eastern Roach and suggested the town could consider a smaller project to address multiple items rather than spending the full amount at once. Council asked for the forthcoming report and no vote was taken this evening.
