The council approved police and fire supplemental appropriations during the July 27 meeting. Police Lieutenant Zach Michael (S11) explained overtime pressures and a recently vacated position; Clerk (S3) reported the total for the police resolution as $111,301.40 and emphasized the appropriation comes from the LIT public-safety fund rather than the general fund.
Fire leadership (S10) requested an additional appropriation to restore overtime funding while two full-time positions remain open and to cover increased calls and some injuries and illnesses; S10 estimated the request at about $52,000–$53,000 to carry the department through year-end. Both measures passed on roll-call votes.
