Council approves $65,127 for Heritage Trail re-engineering and UDO update

Ellettsville's planning department won approval for two targeted planning contracts: $35,702 for a Heritage Trail engineering update required by DNR and $29,425 to update the town UDO and zoning map as part of the reorganization process.
On July 27 planning staff (S12) told the council the Department sought two planning appropriations totaling $65,127. The larger piece, $35,702, covers a Heritage Trail plan update requiring a new engineered set of plans after a route change requested by the DNR; Fine & Fanyo and Associates were noted as the survey and engineering firm engaged for the work.
The second contract, $29,425, goes to Taylor Seifert and Williams Design Group to update the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), comprehensive plan elements and the zoning map to reflect town reorganization. Planning staff answered a council question that the Heritage Trail funds would not cover restroom construction. Council approved the appropriations by roll-call vote.
