District administrators told the board Feb. 11 that long‑term enrollment has declined while early childhood participation has grown.
Assistant Superintendent Mary Mycyk presented data showing enrollment decreased from 11,874 in 2018 to a reported 8,621 in 2025, with current enrollment at 8,483. Mycyk explained factors behind the decline and said the district uses live birth rates to model kindergarten enrollment through 2029. She also noted that EC/PreK enrollment rose from 343 in 2022 to 522 this year and that the preschool program now enrolls about 600 students.
The board also received calendar information for 2026–27 (Teacher Institute Aug. 17–18, 2026; students begin Aug. 19, 2026; last day May 27, 2027) and a facilities note that the U.S. Soccer Foundation proposed installing a mini pitch at Drexel during the week of May 11, 2026.
