Komarek SD 94 administrators reported ongoing professional development on small-group instruction and scheduled dedicated staff training on artificial intelligence for Dec. 19.
Board member Willie Merrill said district leaders and West40 led a recent session on small-group instructional strategies and that the Dec. 19 half-day will focus on AI training. The minutes note staff will "explore AI through Google Gemini" to help with lesson planning, instructional practices, and student assessment; an introductory session was held Oct. 31.
The board framed the sessions as capacity-building rather than policy adoption. District leaders said the training will be led by the technology coordinator and is part of Goal 3 of the district strategic plan to expand responsible use of instructional technology.
