The La Grange Elementary School District 105 Board on March 23 approved a one-year FY27 renewal of its food-service management contract with Gourmet Gorilla. The renewal ties annual increases to the CPI–Food Away from Home (capped at 5%), producing a projected 4.1% increase in fixed meal rates for FY27: breakfast from $1.90 to $1.98 and lunch from $3.40 to $3.54.
District business presenter Steven Smidle told the board that Gourmet Gorilla has generally met contractual expectations on menu development and communication, and that final renewal is contingent on Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) review and approval of required federal-program documentation. "Gourmet Gorilla abided by their contract in terms of communication in terms of listening to constructive feedback on menu items or preparation," the minutes report.
Board members emphasized the timing and operational need for the renewal: ISBE approval is required for the district to formally execute the renewal and to maintain compliance with National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program reimbursement rules. The board approved the renewal on a recorded roll-call vote with all seven members voting AYE.
Next steps: district staff will submit the renewal package to ISBE for review. If ISBE requires changes, the district will report back to the board with any material modifications or conditions.
