At the Oct. 14 meeting the Komarek SD 94 superintendent summarized the district's eLearning procedures for weather- or crisis-driven remote days.
Dr. Todd Fitzgerald said teachers will provide instruction across core subjects, physical education and specials, and will maintain office hours so families can contact staff. The district noted K-2 families will receive work and communication via ParentSquare and grades 3-8 will use Google Classroom. Staff availability during eLearning was specified in minutes as roughly 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and assignments may be adjusted for families without internet access. Special education services will be modified or provided consistent with students' IEP goals.
The board was reminded that the Illinois State Board of Education requires the district to provide information about its eLearning plan annually and that the Komarek plan runs on a three-year cycle. Dr. Fitzgerald said families will receive notification of an eLearning day via ParentSquare and voicemail from the superintendent.
"Students will have assignments provided electronically," the minutes state. The district stated it will adjust due dates if internet access is unavailable and will ensure special education students receive modified assignments per their IEPs.
