The motion "TO APPROVE HIRING THE COMPANY OVERWATCH PRIVATE SECURITY AND INVESTIGATORS TO INVESTIGATE RESIDENCY ISSUES FOR KOMAREK" was made by President Chris Waas, seconded by Willie Merrill and approved unanimously by roll call (Yes: Arango, Merrill, Neumann, Obrock, Waas, Stevens). Dr. Fitzgerald described a prior case in which surveillance conducted over six to eight weeks produced a written report demonstrating a student's family did not reside in North Riverside; he said the district typically spent about $1,000–$2,000 in recent years on investigator work but wants an on-call vendor for future cases.
Board members did not record additional conditions in open session about scope or maximum hours for contracts; the motion passed without additional public limitations noted in the minutes.
