Interim Superintendent Dr. Algeanna Griffin reviewed several district updates at the Dec. 11 meeting. She said the Teach Town program, designed to support students with diverse learning needs, achieved a 72.1% growth rate that exceeds the state average; the district has been invited to present that work at the Illinois Alliance for Administrators for Special Education conference in February. Dr. Griffin also announced the district is working with a ComEd subsidiary to install free LED lighting in all buildings.
Dr. Griffin outlined additional items: a partnership arranged by District Nurse Dr. Kelvita Raggs with Advocate Mobile Health Clinic to provide student sports physicals and immunizations on Dec. 21–22, 2025; a $139,794 increase to the district's Title III bilingual grant; and upcoming student performances (Irving Middle School Showstoppers and Washington Dual Language Academy cheer team at the Dec. 5 tree lighting, a Winter Concert on Dec. 10, and a Dec. 18 Irving theater presentation). She closed by wishing the community happy holidays and confirming the last day of school is Dec. 19, with classes resuming Jan. 5, 2026.
