At its Nov. 13 meeting, the Maywood School District 89 board adopted a resolution estimating the 2025 aggregate tax levy at $19,311,609 and approved multiple fund transfers to satisfy district debt-service obligations.
Trusting staff recommendations, the board approved transfers from the operations and maintenance fund into certificate and bond-and-interest funds to pay debt service on the General Obligation Debt Certificates (Limited Tax), Series 2020, and the District's Taxable General Obligation Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2010C. The minutes record the estimate amount of $19,311,609.00 as part of the levy-resolution action (motion by Macias; seconded by Scott), which carried 7–0.
Separately, the board approved a resolution abating taxes previously levied for 2025 to pay debt service on the Series 2010C bonds (motion by Ciancio, seconded by Scott). The minutes show the interfund-transfer motions and the abatement vote carried by recorded ayes where specified. The minutes do not break out the dollar amount transferred from the operations and maintenance fund in the text of the open minutes.
Board members did not expand on the long-term debt strategy in the public minutes. The actions recorded are procedural fiscal steps districts often use to allocate funds for debt-service obligations and to estimate annual levy needs for county tax levies.
