Maywood School District 89 trustees voted to authorize a strategic-plan contract with West40 not to exceed $35,000. Board member Ciancio moved the measure and Giron seconded; the motion carried 5–0 with Macias and Parker absent.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Algeanna Griffin framed the planning effort as part of a new five-year strategic plan intended to align district goals with student needs and improve outcomes in English Language Arts and math. Griffin noted implementation steps already underway, including the adoption of the i-Ready assessment and instruction platform. During her State of the District address she also raised the idea of consolidating the district’s middle schools into a single facility to concentrate resources and foster unity. The board approved the West40 engagement to move the planning process forward.
