District facilities staff presented a proposal to complete automation of remaining univents at Ideal Elementary so the univents integrate with the district's Building Automation System (BAS) ahead of summer school.
Steven Smidl explained that multiple univents at Ideal still operate on legacy controls that limit remote monitoring and coordination with the BAS. Syserco Midwest — the district's current vendor for BAS upgrades — provided a quote that itemized costs: Electrical $65,920; Material $54,520; Professional Labor $46,050; "Total Price = $166,490." Smidl said work would begin during Spring Break and be completed by June so the system is tested and operational before July summer programming. He also said no board action would be taken at the Feb. 23 meeting.
The presentation provided a cost estimate for board consideration and indicated the district will return with a recommended procurement or contracting step when appropriate.
