D105 to apply for $50,000 ISBE maintenance grant to replace Ideal Elementary heat exchange

The La Grange Elementary School District 105 Board authorized the district to apply for the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) FY26 School Maintenance matching grant and to reserve the required $50,000 in local funds for the project.
Director of Business Services Steven Smidl said the district intends to use the grant match for a permanent improvement: replacing the dual heat-exchange unit at Ideal Elementary to better serve common areas including the multipurpose room/cafeteria and library. Smidl told the board the project received a successful bid last year and work is anticipated to begin between December and March, contingent on arrival of the new heat exchange equipment.
Board approval authorizes the president to sign the District Certification and submit the application to West 40 and ISBE. The motion to authorize the application and reserve $50,000 passed unanimously on roll call.
