The Komarek School District 94 Board of Education voted 5-0 on Sept. 16, 2025, to approve the district's Fiscal Year 2026 budget "as presented." President Chris Waas moved the motion; Holly Neumann seconded and the roll-call vote was Merrill, Neumann, Waas, Stevens and Will in favor. Two members, Monica Arango and Melissa Obrock, were absent.
The approval followed a brief public hearing opened and closed at the start of the meeting. District business staff had placed the budget on public display in August, and Business Office Manager Mike Pustelnik presented financial context to trustees during the meeting, including FY25 totals and revenue-source breakdowns. Trustees were told the district had a modest operating deficit in FY25 and that the district may need to move funds temporarily if Cook County property tax bills are delayed past the expected Oct. 1 mailing date.
Board action: The motion recorded in the minutes reads in part, "TO APPROVE THE KOMAREK SCHOOL DISTRICT 94 FISCAL YEAR 2026 BUDGET AS PRESENTED." No amendments or roll-call nay votes were recorded. The district will implement the budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year and proceed with routine monitoring and reporting to the board.
