Superintendent: Komarek to focus PD on individual student needs, ELL and AI supports; grant and salary work underway

Superintendent Dr. Todd Fitzgerald told the board that the district’s administrative team and professional development committee met in May to plan staff learning opportunities for 2025–26.
Fitzgerald said the district will focus on the strategic plan goal of meeting individual students’ academic needs and will again work with the West40 Regional Office of Education for support. He said planned professional development will include English Learner supports and Technology/AI. Fitzgerald added that the superintendent and business manager are researching salaries and benefits of comparable districts to prepare for negotiations with the North Riverside Education Association. He also noted the district is exploring grant opportunities, including a potential school safety grant discussed with West40.
Fitzgerald reported that the district is fully staffed for the upcoming school year and that workplace environment suggestions from a focus group will be implemented to increase staff connectedness.
