Superintendent Steve Ptacek reported to the Jacksonville School District #117 board on Oct. 15 that the district faces revenue headwinds: an expected decrease in property-tax receipts, delinquent state refunds, and delays in state grants tied to government shutdowns that "will impact revenue" and programs going forward. He presented a statewide property-tax analysis compiled from 83 comparable Illinois districts to situate the district's position.
Ptacek also reviewed revenue trackers the board uses for planning. He highlighted that July sales-tax receipts increased by $55,710.90 compared with the previous year and that the district received 93% of an expected PPRT payment of $455,203.70. CFO Rick Cunningham noted the district is about 25% of the way through its fiscal year, which frames near-term budget planning and the timing of the district's bond sale.
