Deputy Superintendent Monica Schroeder, who was appointed as Superintendent in June 2024 with her effective start on July 1, 2026, presented a detailed entry and transition plan to the Committee. Schroeder said her phased plan focuses on six domains: board relations, community engagement, staff relationships, business and finance, instructional leadership, and annual goal setting. She summarized Phase 1 accomplishments (2023-25), including facility design oversight, recruitment of administrative personnel, labor contract negotiations, and leadership of the Strategic Change Agenda process.
Schroeder described Phase 2 activities under way in the current school year, such as co-leading administrator retreats and supervising cabinet and committee meetings, and said Phase 3 will begin in July when she formally assumes the superintendent role. Immediate priorities she listed include a summer Board retreat to set working agreements, one-on-one meetings with each board member, overseeing construction at Braeside and Wayne Thomas and reopening Sherwood's new building, and consideration of a proposal to appoint four middle school students as junior school board members.
