Giles students win regional spelling bee; concert band earns top IGSMA honor

Administrators used the March 18 board meeting to recognize student success at Giles School. Mr. Biedke said Ella E. won the West 40 regional qualifier spelling bee and will advance to the regional spelling bee in Broadview. The Giles Concert Band earned a Superior First Division honor at the IGSMA Band Organizational Contest on March 17; Mr. Bucaro said this is the highest possible honor and students were awarded first-place medals and a plaque will be displayed in the band room.
Mr. Biedke also said 66 students achieved perfect attendance for the second trimester and will be celebrated with a pizza party. Leigh School announced community and testing events, including Read Across America visits and ongoing IAR testing.
