District 112 considers first reading of AI use policy focusing on student agency and privacy

Superintendent Dr. Michael Lubelfeld and Executive Director for Technology and Operations Jeremy Wickham led the presentation and described a small pilot earlier in the year that included student participants on the Technology Committee.
Administrators listed the tools currently approved for use—"Magic School," "School AI," Google’s "Gemini" and "LM Notebook"—and said the board will be asked to approve the policy at the March 17 meeting.
