Board to shift ELA, math to 80-minute blocks as curriculum review continues

At the March 18 meeting, Mr. Biedke told the board the district will adjust instructional time so ELA and math classes are 80 minutes long while other classes will be 40 minutes. "The schedule will be adjusted so that ELA and Math classes are 80 minutes long," he said as he outlined changes that are part of the district's five-year plan.
Biedke said the lunch schedule will be modified to accommodate one grade level at a time. He also said he is evaluating three math curriculum options. Dr. Rabiola reported current enrollment figures, highlighted a new interventionist role the district is piloting, and said he is exploring ways to add advanced curriculum options and additional supports for students who begin to struggle.
