District presents student engagement survey showing high belonging, lower choice

Rachel Filippi, Executive Director for Personnel Services, presented districtwide student engagement survey results conducted in November for grades 3–8. Filippi said the highest-rated dimensions were Self‑Esteem, Belonging and Safety, with students reporting that teachers ‘‘believe in them and want them to be successful’’ and that schools feel safe and welcoming.
Filippi identified areas for growth—particularly student agency and intrinsic motivation—and tied the results to the District’s Strategic Change Agenda. She cited Goal Area 1, which emphasizes "student choice and student voice," and said principals have set one high‑impact goal at each school to drive improvement; the district plans to re-administer the survey in fall 2026 to track progress.
