Giles student receives 2025 Gebert Award

The Board recognized Sylvia M. as the 2025 Gebert Award winner during its June 17 meeting. Mr. Biedke described the award's history and selection criteria — positive attitude, integrity, compassion, leadership, responsibility, cooperation and service — and congratulated Sylvia on behalf of the Giles community.
Sylvia, who stood with family, said she was "very excited and shocked" about receiving the award. Her parents told the board they were proud and described the nomination itself as "an honor." Mr. Biedke requested a photo with the Board following the presentation.
The board recorded the recognition in the meeting minutes and moved on to regular business; no formal vote or policy change was attached to the award presentation.
