Head Start staff reported to the Mount Vernon City Schools board that the program currently has 200 enrolled children and 413 total filled slots across the program. Staff said the program held monthly family engagement events, and in October 220 students and family members attended a trip to Marlow's pumpkin patch. The program also reported 158 at-home learning activities were returned and focused on literacy, math, social-emotional learning, STEM and nutrition.
Staff told the board the program secured a Coats for Kids grant that will provide coats and accessories for 27 students in need. The board also saw the 2024–25 Head Start Annual Report and was informed that the report is seeing approval.
