The Mendota Twp HSD 280 Board voted to allow students to participate in two sports during the same season on a trial basis beginning Spring 2026 and extending into the 2026–27 school year.
Athletic Director Chance Blumhorst and Principal Joe Masini presented the proposed Athletic Handbook protocol. After discussion the board approved the measure; the roll call shows five members voting yea and one member, Jim Sundberg, voting nay. The policy will operate as a trial to assess impacts on scheduling, safety and coaching logistics.
The board directed administration and athletics staff to implement background checks and required paperwork for coaches and volunteers approved later in the meeting.
