Superintendent Dr. Griffin told the board the district hosted a "Black and Bilingual" community event at Washington Dual Language Academy on April 6, 2026, organized by Bilingual Director Melissa Sepulveda with speaker Dr. Jasmine Brann from Shirley Chisolm Language Academy in Washington, D.C. He said the event highlighted dual-language education and cultural access for African-American students.
Dr. Griffin also reported that seven companies participated in the district's transportation bid process, which he said will provide expanded transportation options, and that the bilingual and dual language department met with School District 209 to discuss new course opportunities and placement pathways for multilingual learners working toward biliteracy.
