Dr. Antoinette Gray, Director of Teaching and Learning, briefed the board on state changes to the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) scoring. She said Illinois retains the state standards but has revised cut scores; specifically, the new third-grade ELA cut score is 735 and the third-grade math cut score is 732.
Gray said the new cut scores provide clearer data for educators and families but noted that significant growth will be required for students to reach proficiency under the revised scoring. The board received the update as part of the Teaching and Learning director's report.
