The Gavin School Board adopted a resolution at its April 22 meeting directing the Regional Superintendent of Schools to certify a proposition asking Lake County voters to impose a 1% retailers’ occupation tax and a 1% service occupation tax, with revenues earmarked "to be used exclusively for school facility purposes, school resource officers, and mental health professionals," for submission to the Nov. 3, 2026 general‑election ballot.
Member Amber Sederstrom moved the resolution and Member Kristin Bloniarczyk seconded. The minutes record the motion as carried and direct the Secretary to record the resolution in the Board’s records. The later roll‑call entry in the minutes shows ayes from James Miller, Amber Sederstrom, Sarah Brezinski, Brandy Barth and Kristin Bloniarczyk; Bridgett Payseur is recorded as abstaining and Jenny Meyer as absent.
