Committee reviews $430,000 flooring plan and asbestos removal in F building restrooms

The Operations & Maintenance Committee heard Jan. 26 that the F building restrooms require extensive plumbing and new flooring, and that the counselor’s hallway and both ramps will also receive replacement flooring. District staff said removal work will begin over spring break and installation will be completed during the summer; the committee was given an estimated flooring cost of roughly $430,000.
The minutes record that asbestos removal for the girls’ bathroom will be billed separately at about $35,000 and that the lowest bid received for the combined work was $586,000 plus asbestos removal. Committee members noted the bathrooms should remain usable for the Pekin Civic Chorus event in May while the district sequences removal and replacement work.
