The Pekin Community High School Board of Education voted Dec. 15 to enter a five-year lease with Midwest Transit Equipment for 28 new school buses at an annual cost of $689,279 and to contract with Tyler Technologies for student transportation routing at $42,871 per year. The board approved the measures during its regular meeting after a presentation by Chief Financial Officer Schaefer.
The bus package includes three 2027 IC/CE 48+3wc passenger buses with full air conditioning at $28,383 per bus per year; seventeen 2027 IC/CE 72-passenger buses with driver A/C at $23,778 per bus per year; and eight 2027 IC/CE 72-passenger buses with full A/C at $24,988 per bus per year. The motions were recorded as passed (motion for the bus lease made by Terry Fischer, seconded by Stephen Huey; motion for routing software made by Joe Alesandrini, seconded by Scott Ewing). The board did not record any opposing votes on those motions.
