The Pekin Community High School Board of Education appointed Joe Alesandrini to fill a vacant board seat during a special meeting on Dec. 9, 2025. The roll-call vote to appoint Alesandrini was 4–2 in favor after nominations and a motion to close nominations.
Member Terry Fischer nominated Joe Alesandrini to fill the vacancy; Clarice Chick nominated Corry Harris. A motion by Stephen Huey, seconded by Terry Fischer, closed nominations and was recorded as passed. In the subsequent roll-call vote, Manda Brown and Clarice Chick cast their votes for Corry Harris; Scott Ewing, Terry Fischer, Stephen Huey and President Ryan Wrigley cast their votes for Joe Alesandrini. The minutes record: "Joe Alesandrini is appointed by majority vote." The board cited its policy 2.70 as the governing procedure for filling the vacancy.
The board had earlier voted to go into closed session under the Illinois Open Meetings Act, 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(3), the statutory exception that the minutes cite for discussion of the selection of a person to fill a public office. President Ryan Wrigley adjourned the meeting at 9:55 p.m.; the minutes bear the signatures of President Ryan Wrigley and Board Secretary Terry Fischer.
