Schaefer said the district will post positions in January for a full-time administrative assistant, approximately 30 part‑time bus drivers and 15 part‑time monitors to support expanded routing and extracurricular needs.
Schafer described operational requirements including a five‑year bus lease, routing software, a contract with the city for a bus barn, mechanics and on‑bus camera and radio systems. She said the district needs 25 regular buses, three wheelchair buses and four vans to cover regular and special routes; the budget is currently a deficit due to startup costs and a transportation claim that is a year behind.
