The Palos Heights School District 128 Board of Education voted unanimously Sept. 17 to adopt its final Fiscal Year 2026 budget following a public hearing and a staff presentation. Board President Dr. Facko moved to approve the budget and Mr. Volk seconded; the roll-call vote recorded ayes from all seven members and no nays.
The adoption followed a public hearing in which Chief School Business Officer Mrs. Anoman reviewed the proposed budget "as presented," and the board received no public comment. The district noted enrollment increases — districtwide enrollment is approaching 800 students — and staff said the budget plans for a deficit year while the district explores revenue and program strategies. The board also approved engaging consultant Beyond Your Base to help connect with the community and explore options to sustain programs and transportation amid fiscal constraints.
The board indicated it will continue to monitor fiscal conditions and consider bids and contracts (including a potential roof replacement project and transportation contract extensions) as part of the FY2026 implementation. The district noted the public notice for the budget hearing was published Aug. 31 in the Southtown and that the hearing complied with Illinois law.
