The Palos Heights School District 128 Board of Education approved a consent agenda at its Aug. 13 meeting that included prior meeting minutes, bills and payroll, activity-account reviews and annual renewal of pre-tax insurance. The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Dr. Facko and seconded by Ms. Rubio; the board adopted the motion by roll-call vote with all present members voting aye.
The personnel portion of the consent agenda listed several hires across the district, with many positions effective Aug. 19, 2025: kindergarten teachers Noelle Dempsel and Celeste Rusin at Indian Hill; preschool teacher Catherine Schaffrath; paraprofessionals Ariana Herrera, Quinn Lyons and Nancy Moran at Indian Hill; Chippewa hires including Jane Cleary (2nd grade) and Josie Sundermeier (special education); Navajo hires including Evan Churchill (5th grade) and Kelsey Klukas (4th grade); Independence Jr. High paraprofessionals Tyler Buell and Victoria Puttkammer and custodial hire Robert Creighton; and districtwide specialists Melanie Burdelik (occupational therapy) and Tracie Baruick (physical therapy). The minutes also recorded two resignations: Destiny Martinez (Paraprofessional, Navajo), effective July 25, 2025, and Jessica Bender (Paraprofessional, IJHS), effective Aug. 1, 2025.
Board action on the consent agenda was recorded as: Ayes — Ms. Rubio; Dr. Facko; Mrs. Brienzo; Mrs. Lachowicz; Mr. Young; and Dr. Powell. Nays — none. Motion carried.
