Dr. Brownlow reviewed the district's Evidence-Based Funding (EBF) classification as Tier 3 and said the district's current per‑pupil investment is approximately $14,900. He told the Board that federal funding has shown volatility and the district has only limited reserves to draw on if unexpected costs arise.
The presentation noted that, while the state has invested roughly $350 million annually into the funding formula since 2018, Palos Heights SD 128 receives only about $20,000 per year in additional funding under those changes. Board members and administrators described those distributional effects as constraining local options for mitigating deficits.
