District 112 team recommends TCI for middle school social studies; four-year cost $136,062

Kim Mollerdino, the district Learning Coordinator, and a committee of middle school teachers presented a recommendation that North Shore SD 112 adopt TCI as the middle school social studies resource. The committee said it surveyed neighboring districts, used a rubric to evaluate finalists and included student reviewers; the four-year package cost was listed as $136,062 for digital access, English- and Spanish-language classroom sets and teacher guides.

Mollerdino told the board that students favored TCI’s interactive lessons and multimedia supports and that teachers praised its built-in modifications and extensions. Materials will be available for public inspection at the district office from March 17 through April 20, and the Board will be asked to adopt the resource at the April 21 meeting. "TCI was ultimately identified as the preferred resource," the presentation stated. If adopted, staff training and collaborative planning are scheduled in April and May, with distribution over the summer and ongoing job-embedded professional development in 2026–27.
