Board hears plan for formal food-service RFP, award expected May 6

The North Shore SD 112 board heard an update from Executive Director for Technology and Operations Jeremy Wickham and Director of Food Services Georgette Franco about the district’s Request for Proposal (RFP) process to select a Food Service Management Company (FSMC) for the 2026–27 school year.
Wickham and Franco told the board the district is currently operating under a one-year emergency contract and aims to expand food services to all schools in 2026–27. They said the RFP will be developed using the Illinois State Board of Education’s standard legal and FSMC RFP templates, that vendor communications will be handled exclusively by a committee email (no phone calls or individual emails), and that the district will not conduct taste tests or site visits to vendor locations. The RFP award is expected to be announced May 6, with a recommendation for board approval scheduled for the May 19, 2026 board meeting.
