Mount Vernon D80 approves multiple hires, transfers and board appointment

The Mount Vernon City Schools District 80 Board approved multiple personnel actions after returning from closed session Sept. 15. On a series of motions the board approved classified hires (examples include Kaylee Dycus as a nurse and several cook helpers), numerous internal transfers (including paraprofessional-to-teacher moves for Janna Edwards and Aimee Villagomez), extracurricular appointments, and accepted resignations from several employees including Chad Brandon (board member) effective Sept. 3, 2025. The motions carried on roll call with board members Blok, Nunnery, Flanigan and Jackson voting aye.
The board also approved the retirement of Aleta Uhls effective at the end of the 2028–29 school year and approved two employee dismissals effective Sept. 16, 2025 (Kristi Marcum and Tyler Barber). In governance action the board appointed Matt Reynolds to replace David Edwards to serve the remainder of the term expiring in May 2027; the appointment motion was moved by Jaymie Nunnery and seconded by Matt Flanigan. Several motions included salary-step information and prorated effective dates where transfers changed certified salary placement.
