Students present Red Ribbon Week proclamation, urge 'Unity in our community, be drug free'

Counselor Jodi Fatheree and six students from Zadok Casey Middle School spoke to the board on Oct. 9 about Red Ribbon Week, scheduled Oct. 23–31, 2025. The group presented the proclamation and described this year's theme: "Unity in our community, be drug free." The students and staff outlined planned activities at each school building, a poster contest and local-business discounts for students who present a red ribbon.
Principal Scott Williams and Curriculum Director Paula Metcalf attended the presentation; the students recited the Red Ribbon Week proclamation before leaving the meeting at 6:05 p.m. The board did not vote on a formal proclamation at that meeting; the presentation served as a public briefing and encouragement for school and community participation in the week'long campaign.
