The Mount Vernon City Schools District 80 Board of Education held a statutory public hearing on the tentative 2025–26 budget Sept. 15 and adopted the budget by resolution. President Kent Jackson called the hearing; there were no public comments before the board approved the resolution. Motion to adopt came from Jaymie Nunnery and was seconded by Brian Blok; roll call votes were Nunnery, Blok, Flanigan and Jackson in favor; Brandon and Daniels were recorded absent.
Board documents and the minutes note the superintendent made modest modifications to the tentative budget after additional grant and state funding information became available. The fiscal year was fixed as July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026 in the resolution adopted by the board. The board will proceed with budget implementation and review reports at regular meetings as required by statute.
